love this christmas

Last week Lauren and I handed out 3 H2O bags and were really encouraged. The first two bags went to a couple young men probably in their early twenties. We pulled out of Wal-Mart and both of them stood waiting with their signs by the stop sign. They were specifically requesting bus tickets, but when we handed the bags out the window, their faces lit up like it was Christmas. They grinned, laughed, and one of them even did a little dance as they exclaimed, "Food!" The eagerness with which they received the bags, brought a smile to my face and filled my eyes with tears. As we drove off, I looked back to watch them as they set down their signs and began to open the bags.

We had only driven a few yards, when we reached a stoplight. There an older lady, bundled thick in her winter jacket, paced the sidewalk next to the road, holding her sign for the drivers to see. As she approached our car, Lauren grabbed a bag sitting on the floor, rolled down her window, and held the bag out so the lady could see it. Once the bag caught her eye, she jogged the rest of the way to us and smiled as she received her bag. Immediately she began opening the package as she walked back to her belongings, which were leaning against a road sign. Then our light turned green.

While we were out Christmas shopping, these three panhandlers waited patiently and hungrily for a bus ticket and food. It was an honor to share Jesus' love with them.

John 4:19 "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the satisfaction for our sins."

How will you share Christ's love this Christmas?
