Ole Buffalo Jump

|

Years ago buffalo roamed the prairies of Montana. Indians, taking advantage of the numerous bison, ate the animal and used its hide to make tepees and clothing. How did the men kill the giant beasts?

Many times they would ride their horses into a stampede and shoot the bison with their bows and arrows. But when the landscape allowed, the Indians would herd or rather chase the animals over a steep cliff. The buffalo couldn't see the drop off and unknowingly jumped into the deep bed of jagged rocks.

My Granddad owns land on which one of these cliffs exists. We call it 'Ole Buffalo Jump'.

Is that really on Grandad's land? Sadly enough, I don't think I've ever been there. Terrible, eh? Miss you guys!
