What Does Love Look Like?

|
He gave me that look.
Blood streaked His face.
He died to take
My own place.
What does love look like?

An innocent man
Mocked by a throng.
Spat upon though
Doing no wrong.
What does love look like?

A coarse whip striking
At a bare back.
Blood gushing with
Every whack.
What does love look like?

Falling down under
A heavy cross.
Deep longing to
Reach the lost.
What does love look like?

Twisted crown of thorns
Piercing his brow.
Abused and rejected
Without a frown.
What does love look like?

Nails driven through His hands.
Feet hammered to the cross.
Taking the place of guilty men
He payed the ultimate cost.
What does love look like?

Because of the weight
Settled on His chest,
His life almost gone
Unable to draw a breath.
What does love look like?

No greater love
In the world than this.
Jesus laid down His life
For us instead.
What does love look like?

What does love look like?
He gave me that look.
